Offense Explodes for 17 Runs, Holds Off Late Rockingham Rally
Guilford Technical Community College unleashed an offensive avalanche and held on late to defeat Rockingham Community College 17–11 in a high-scoring, back-and-forth battle.
After Rockingham struck first with a two-run homer from Austin Patterson in the opening inning, GTCC responded in a big way—breaking the game open with a six-run third inning that completely shifted momentum. Joseph Buckley got things started with an RBI single before Andre Mason ripped a two-run double, and Evan Britt followed with another RBI double to cap the surge.
From there, the Titans’ offense never let up.
Bryce Meachem delivered a monster performance, going 4-for-5 with three runs scored and an RBI, consistently setting the tone at the plate. Buckley matched the energy, finishing with three hits—including a two-run homer in the seventh—and three RBIs. Mason was a force in the middle of the lineup, driving in four runs, while Britt added three RBIs of his own.
GTCC continued to pile on runs in the middle innings, extending its lead with key contributions across the lineup. Trey Costner scored three times, while Ashton Fernandez and EJ Lewis each came through with late RBIs to keep the pressure on.
On the mound, Ryan Berry earned the win, tossing four innings while striking out five and allowing just two hits. Logan Stump and Trajan Louis combined for four scoreless innings in relief, helping GTCC maintain control through the middle of the game.
But the game wasn’t over quietly.
Rockingham mounted a dramatic rally in the ninth inning, capitalizing on walks and timely hits to push across seven runs and cut deeply into the deficit. Eli Josey and Trey Watts delivered key RBI singles, while the lineup showed resilience in forcing GTCC to battle until the final out.
Despite the late surge, the Titans’ early offensive explosion proved too much to overcome.
GTCC finished with 15 hits and 17 runs, showcasing a relentless, lineup-wide attack that powered them to the win in a game that featured no shortage of offense and late-inning drama.
